In my first week of living aboard sailboat I have encountered many small challenges. I still haven't found a very effective (or non-messy) way of shaving. My water still tastes like anti-freeze. Half my clothes still haven't found a place to stow. And, let's not forget, I still have that slow leak ...
But the hardest challenge so far has been acclimating my cat, Topher R. Buttrott, to living aboard with me. He is an incredibly territorial and habit driven animal. He doesn't like being taken out of his home ...
The first night he immediately started to cry and frantically searched for an exit. It only took about 20 minutes for him to win, me to cave in, and return him to the house. The second night was a bit better, but ended the same ... No cat on boat.
However, after a week and a few more visits to the boat, things are starting
to look better. Now Topher simply stares at me, cries every once in awhile, and plans his eventual take over of the sailboat (and then the world). I've noticed that he has found a few places in particular that he enjoys lying down and giving me death glares from.
He still hasn't spent an entire day / night onboard Aramis but I have high hopes for this upcoming week ...
...if he doesn't murder me first.
Until Next Time
